Selling an electric car: what really counts
On an electric car, battery health weighs more heavily than mileage. Here is what actually determines the offer.
Battery state of health
Remaining battery capacity is the primary valuation criterion. It is measured through a manufacturer diagnostic or an independent test, and it explains much of the price gap between two otherwise identical cars.
A history dominated by DC fast charging weighs more heavily on degradation than regular slow charging at home. If you have charging data, share it: good data works in your favour.
Remaining warranty
Most manufacturers cover the battery for eight years or a mileage cap, with a guaranteed capacity threshold. A warranty still active and transferable is a genuine value argument, because it reduces risk for the next owner.
Accessories and equipment
The original charging cable, the adapter and, where included, the wallbox are taken into account if they go with the car. A missing cable, by contrast, is a real replacement cost.
Accepted charging power, the presence of a heat pump and real usable capacity also shape demand on the used market.
