Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most often, grouped by theme.
Valuation and offer
Is the valuation free?
Yes. The online valuation, the travel and the inspection are free and carry no obligation, including if you decline the offer.
Why not give an instant price online?
Because an instant price calculated without seeing the car is a marketing device, not an offer. We prefer a reasoned range within 24 working hours, confirmed at inspection.
How long does the offer stay valid?
Seven days by default, provided mileage and condition do not change. The exact period is stated on the offer.
Can I negotiate?
The offer rests on objective factors. If you have information we did not have — service invoices, recently replaced parts, undeclared equipment — it is taken into account.
Documents and formalities
What documents do I need to provide?
The registration document in the seller’s name, photo ID, the roadworthiness certificate, the service book and all keys. For a French vehicle, a certificate of administrative status less than fifteen days old is required.
Who handles deregistration?
We do. The transfer declaration and deregistration are prepared with you and filed with the relevant authority for the country of registration.
Can I sell a car that is not in my name?
Only with written authority from the registered keeper plus a copy of their ID. Without that, the sale cannot be completed.
What about a vehicle from an estate?
A certificate of inheritance and the written agreement of all heirs are required. We set out the exact list for your situation.
Payment
How am I paid?
By bank transfer to your account, in euros, anywhere in the SEPA area. The transfer is initiated on the day the transfer documents are signed.
Do you pay in cash?
No. Cash exposes both parties and runs into the applicable legal ceilings. A transfer leaves a record for you as well as for us.
When does the money arrive?
Depending on your bank, usually the same day or the next working day. Proof of transfer is handed to you immediately.
My car is still financed. How does that work?
Ask your finance company for the settlement figure. We can pay that balance directly and transfer you the difference where the value allows.
Vehicle condition
Do you buy damaged or non-running vehicles?
Yes. Describe the damage precisely and attach photos. Flatbed collection can be arranged for non-running vehicles.
My roadworthiness test has expired. Is that a blocker?
No. An expired test affects the valuation but does not prevent a sale to a professional buyer.
My car has very high mileage. Is it still worth something?
Yes, particularly for well-maintained commuter diesels. The service book then counts for more than the odometer.
What if the vehicle cannot be resold?
It goes to an authorised treatment facility and the certificate of destruction is sent to you. A residual value is usually still offered.
Trade sellers
Is there a minimum volume?
No. A single vehicle or a batch of thirty are both handled. From three vehicles upwards, the inspection takes place at your site.
How is VAT handled?
According to the regime applicable to the vehicle: VAT on the full price, the margin scheme, or an exempt intra-Community supply. Documents are issued accordingly.
Do you offer grouped collection?
Yes, planned with you, including in successive waves and across several sites.
Personal data
What do you do with my data?
It is used only to handle your selling request and, where you have agreed, to send you commercial information. It is never sold.
How do I ask for my data to be deleted?
Simply message our dedicated data protection address. The request is handled within the statutory one-month period.
Are the photos I send kept?
They are kept for as long as the request is being handled, then deleted in line with the periods set out in the privacy policy.
